Blue Earth man accused of $23M fraud scheme defends his business - and his Porsche
Red Lake Nation News
Before the state stopped cutting checks and federal fraud investigators zeroed in, Charles "Chuck" Healey bought a house for each of his clients to live in and a car to help them get around town.
Through his small health care business, Healey Homes, in Blue Earth, the 61-year-old had almost two dozen disabled Minnesotans living in rented houses and receiving Medicaid-backed services.
The state reimbursed him nearly $23 million over four years to run a business meant to help disabled Minnesotans lead independent lives. Yet Healey and his business partner also benefited, authorities said, buying Porsches and Rolex watches before the business shut down last year amid "credible allegations of fraud."
