Two people arrested for identity theft scheme spanning multiple counties

WKOW

MADISON (WKOW) — Two individuals have been arrested in connection with identity theft and forgery, according to a press release from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. Austin Temple and Mira Bader, both 37, were taken into custody on Feb. 9 at a motel on Madison's East Side.

Captain David Clark reported that the investigation began on Jan. 29, when a Lodi resident's checkbook was stolen and used for unauthorized purchases. Detectives discovered that the stolen checks were used in several businesses across Dane and Dodge Counties.

Temple was on probation for prior identity theft and forgery charges and had been wanted for probation violation. Both suspects were found with stolen identifications, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

In this case, Temple faces charges including forgery and misappropriating ID info. He is held on a $2,500 signature bond and is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
