State treasurer warns public of 2 phone and email scams
KOAT - NM
SANTA FE, N.M. —
State Treasurer Laura Montoya wants the public to be aware of two scams currently in use that are designed to gain access to your bank account.
One is a scam disguised as a phone call from the treasurer's office, in which the caller claims to be a federal law enforcement agent. The person receiving the call is told they must pay a certain amount of money or their bank account will be frozen.
The other is an email asking the recipient to DocuSign documents that would initiate unauthorized financial transactions.
