West Fargo man accused of embezzling $2.7 million from Fargo construction company

Valley News Live

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - 29-year-old Daniel Lindgren of West Fargo has been charged with felony theft, in a case alleging that he stole over $2.7 million from a Fargo construction company.

Court documents say on October 26th, Fargo officers were called to Shorestone Development to take a fraud report. The owner, Mark Payne, reported that Lindgren, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, had been embezzling a large amount of money from the company over the course of 3 years. Court records say Lindgren had access to 5 business bank accounts, including Payne’s personal bank accounts.

In the report made to police, Payne said he was alerted by Bell Bank of fraudulent activity on one of the business accounts. On October 18th, Payne and Lindgren met with a Bell Bank representative in person, who believed Lindgren was embezzling money from the account. It is noted in court documents that Bremer Bank also accused Lindgren of embezzling a significant amount of money.
