Sheboygan hit with cyberattack for ransom

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WBAY) - The City of Sheboygan is dealing with a demand for ransom after a cyber attack.
An update from the city government says it discovered there was unauthorized access to the city’s network by an external party.
Since then, the city says it has secured its network.
It’s working with experts right now to do a thorough forensic review to understand the full scope of this attack.
Sheboygan says there‘s no evidence any sensitive personal information was compromised. Officials say they’ll let everyone know if that changes and reach out to each person impacted. That will include resources to help.
The city it reported the incident to law enforcement and got advice on how to respond to the ransom demand.
