Safeguard your personal information: Here are some tips in wake of reported breach

(TND) — The personal data of nearly 3 billion people have reportedly leaked onto the dark web following the unconfirmed breach of a background check company.
In response, the personal finance website WalletHub offered advice for how potential victims can safeguard their information.
Kiplinger, Bloomberg and other outlets have reported on a class action complaint against Jerico Pictures Inc., which does business as National Public Data, the background check company.
According to reports, a cybercriminal group was trying to sell the stolen database of personal information on the dark web for $3.5 million.
The complaint was filed Aug. 1 in federal court.
