Victim explains how Amazon account was hacked using 'credential stuffing'
The National Desk
SEATTLE — A new, massive data breach exposing text messages and call data of nearly all customers of AT&T was confirmed by the telecommunications giant Friday.
The company said it believes a hacker stole those call and text records during a five-month period in 2022. It said it will provide notice to current and former customers impacted by this breach.
AT&T also said that this hack impacts about 109 million customer accounts, but it doesn't believe the data is publicly available.
“You can often times be able to understand people’s daily patterns, what they’re doing during the day, who they’re calling most often, who they will answer phone calls from and so even though it’s not personal information, that is a risk, a high risk for people. You could be exposed to phishing scams or any other kind of phone scams or text scams,” Michael Scheumack, Chief Innovation Officer at IdentityIQ told KOMO News.
