Knoxville Police: Suspect charged in Western Ave. bank robbery

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The suspect in a bank robbery that happened Friday afternoon on Western Avenue has been charged according to the Knoxville Police Department.
Saturday morning, Knoxville Police shared that Robert Zenas Whipple, 51, had been arrested and charged in connection to the robbery that officers responded to at the City Employees Credit Union in the 4400 block of Western Avenue around 3:40 p.m. on Friday.
KPD said that on Friday night, officers spotted the suspect vehicle from the robbery, a U-Haul cargo van, in the course of the investigation.
