2 arrested in morning bank robbery
The Elkbart Truth
ELKHART — Two subjects were taken into custody Thursday after police were called to a bank robbery on North Main Street.
The Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received a 911 call at 9:30 a.m. of a robbery in progress at the Fifth Third Bank, 400 N. Main St., the Elkhart Police Department said.
The caller told police that two unknown male subjects entered the bank and demanded money. After the employee complied, the subjects left the scene in a vehicle before police arrived. The subjects did not display any weapons during the incident, and no injuries were reported, according to police.
In the course of their investigation, officers identified a second potential suspect vehicle and followed it to a car wash at 111 Middleton Road shortly before noon. Two subjects fled on foot from that vehicle and resisted officer commands to stop but were detained nearby shortly thereafter, and taken into custody without further incident.
