Jackson man sentenced for conspiracy to commit bank fraud, aggravated identity theft

MSN

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - A judge sentenced a Jackson man to 26 months in prison for conspiracy to commit bank fraud and aggravated identity theft.

Court documents say Anthony Craig Myrick, 45, opened an account at BankPlus in September 2022 using someone else’s identity. According to the court documents, Myrick received several $500 checks that he knew to be counterfeit United States Treasury checks from his co-defendant Ronald Gardner.

A press release says Gardner and Myrick deposited several counterfeit United States Treasury checks in the account at various BankPlus branches in the Jackson metro area and withdrew the cash before the checks were determined to be counterfeit.

A judge ordered Myrick to pay restitution to BankPlus as part of his sentence.
