LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The recent hack of Canvas’s parent company had many students and parents on high alert across the Valley.
Scammers often try to capitalize on events like these.
Sometimes they’ll send texts or emails warning of suspicious activity related to the hack. They may also impersonate Canvas or its parent company, Instructure. In both cases, they’ll offer assistance, but it’s a ploy to get access to personal and financial information.
Be suspicious of any message asking for fast access to sensitive data. Verify requests via a company’s official app or website before sharing any information.
