St. Paul woman pleads guilty to identity theft

A St. Paul woman admitted her guilt in a ring that stole hundreds of identities; three others are accused.

One of several women involved in a ring in which allegedly hundreds of identities were stolen pleaded guilty this week.

Shauntell R. Burg, 32, of St. Paul pleaded guilty in Ramsey County District Court on Thursday to identity theft. Burg and three other women were accused of stealing between 350 to 500 identities.

As part of the plea deal, one count of identity theft was dismissed and the county attorney's office agreed not to file three other cases against her. Burg agreed to testify against the others and provide $1,000 restitution to each victim plus the actual losses in two identity theft cases.
