A 26-year-old man called police to report an identity theft on May 8, an arrest affidavit shows. He told officers that after he lost his ID, an unknown person used his name, date of birth and social security number to get a car loan.
The loan was used to purchase a black 2017 Jaguar XE Sedan for $14,900 from a dealership near 17th and M streets. The purchase took place on April 15.
