The promise of stimulus checks is being used as bait by scammers in phishing attacks.

Residents were alerted by the New York Department of Motor Vehicles to fraudulent text messages offering $1,500 in gas rebates.

Phishing emails and messages are made to look like regular emails or messages, but they can actually damage your computer or phone and may even compromise your personal information.

Most phishing emails contain a link that, if you click on it, may reveal your personal information to con artists.
