Washington-Attorney General Jeff Sessions and law enforcement partners today announced a coordinated cleanup of the largest elder fraud case in history. The case involved more than 250 defendants from around the world who killed more than one million Americans, most of them elderly. Proceedings include criminal, civil, and confiscation proceedings across more than 50 federal jurisdictions. Of the defendants, 200 were charged with criminal charges. In each case, the criminals were engaged in financial schemes aimed at or had a significant impact on the elderly. In total, the indicted senior fraud program has caused losses of over $ 500 million. The ministry coordinated the announcement with FTC and the State Attorney General. The Attorney General has independently filed numerous proceedings against senior citizen fraud during the sweep period.
