Fraud So Obvious, You Can See It In Analytics (If You Looked)

All the major advertisers already pay for fraud detection tech when they buy through programmatic channels. This is supposed to help them detect ad fraud and fake clicks and keep their ads off of piracy, porn, hate, and disinfo sites. I’ve said for years that the detection tech doesn’t work [1], [2] and bad guys have easily gotten by their detection. But marketers who paid for those services remained skeptical - they want to believe the fraud detection works. How can they tell for themselves that it doesn’t? Let’s look at some simple examples from analytics. The fraud is so obvious that anyone can tell just by looking at analytics. Oh, big advertisers don’t look at analytics; and instead rely on monthly excel spreadsheets sent by their media agencies telling them everything’s fine, keep buying? That may be the problem right there.
