Identity theft info for 30 people found during traffic stop in Camarillo, authorities say
VC Star
A backpack with personal information for 30 victims — including birth certificates and Social Security cards — was seized during a traffic stop in Camarillo on Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The stop was made around 2:20 p.m. in the 100 block of Ventura Boulevard, near the Camarillo Premium Outlets, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office reported. The agency is contracted to provide police services in Camarillo.
Detectives with a special enforcement unit were conducting high-visibility patrols in the city when they pulled over the vehicle, authorities said. They recognized one of the passengers, a Ventura man, as a probationer with search terms. Another passenger in the car, 39-year-old Monique Elliott of Ventura, was on probation for a receiving stolen property offense, officials said.
