Grand Island woman loses thousands in survey fraud

A Grand Island woman was scammed out of $5,000 in what appeared to be a survey company.

The Grand Island Police Department said the 67-year-old woman received an email asking her to test out the efficiency and customer service of her bank.

Police said the scammer claimed to be working with Giftcards.com and affiliated with CVS and Walmart. The victim said the communication took place between Nov. 28 and Dec. 14.
